Waterproof Matches

This is quite simple actually. All you need is a Mason jar, strike anywhere matches, strong glue, and fine sandpaper.

Cut out a round piece of sandpaper and glue it to the cover of the jar. Next put all the matches that fit into the jar. Twist the top on and VOILA! These are great to keep with your camping gear and/or an emergency kit at home.

Desk into Vanity

When Shawn and I first moved into the apartment I decided I wanted to have a vanity. I have always wanted one for as long as I can remember. We happened to be at Savers one afternoon and I found an old desk. It was only $13.00. I decided to go buy it because it was such a good deal. Here is what it looked like before I got my hands on it.

It was not terribly beat up but it had some knicks and some missing hardware. But overall it was in good condition. I went to Lowe's and bought some paint. One color for the outside and one for the inside of the drawers. My plan is to shop in local thrifts stores and antique stores to find some great "new" hardware for the desk.

Here is the end result! I just love it!

It is going to go into my bedroom once we move the bed over slightly so it can fit. Now I am on the hunt for a great mirror to go with it!

ENJOY!
